This last Friday we headed out after Bible study with
Homegroup R.E.D. to
Gracepoint Fellowship Church's building in Alameda for a Smorgas-board game night. After starting off with a game called "Do you know your neighbor?" in which we got to learn some interesting facts about each other (like who was part of the "body worship" teams in their youth groups back in high school), we started in on the board games. And, we had pretty much every game you could imagine, except for Monopoly: Settlers of Catan, Blockus, Risk, Taboo, Apples to Apples, and Guesstures, you name it. As for myself, I tried a new game called Wise or Otherwise, in which we try and come up with "wise" proverbs, but these proverbs often end up being "otherwise." Out of these possible choices, what's the real one?
An old Ugandan proverb says: "A man who loves you tells you to build ..."
- "... a sturdy hut."
- "... a house."
- "... his house."
- "... his house, as well as your own."
- "... on a rock."
- "... wisdom and love to last a lifetime."
One of these proverbs is a real Ugandan proverb - the rest are proverbs that our Gracepoint sages of wisdom - myself, Emily Kim, Stuart, Wynn, Steven Chua, Rick, and Mike Kang - came up with. See if you can guess the right one and make your case in the comments - and I might reveal the real one later in the week!
